Student and Community Service
Throughout my lifetime, I have always believed in giving back, whether it be as a Candy Striper delivering flowers and food to the hospitalized, mentoring a youth group as part of my church community, or serving as a Board of Education Chairperson for three consecutive years back in my home state of Connecticut. Post- COVID quarantine, I have been able to extend my support to our student community again in several ways.
- Participating in surveys for students engaged in projects for other classes
- Writing letters of recommendation for students when requested
- Offering extra credit to students who attend CC Theater Dept productions
- Offering extra credit to students who use CC tutoring services
In addition to the efforts listed above, I was able to gain insight into our student theater group community when my daughter helped as part of her community service with the Harvest Horror Show that took place Fall 2023. Since she was in the cast, I had an opportunity to watch the whole creative process unfold from concept through final production and offered suggestions to Dr. Thompson and his crew when appropriate. I got to know our theater students a bit better, bought them pizza during dress rehearsal, and offered moral support when needed. As a member of the audience, I saw the show twice so that I could experience both endings.
